  Reforms
Public Utilities in area of power, gas or water, are under increased pressure world over to be more cost efficient, competitive and service oriented. During the 90s the reform or restructuring of utilities started in more than 100 countries including India. However, the reforms did not produce the same outcomes in all places. One of the important lessons learnt from the experience of successful reform had been that active participation of stakeholders and the informed civil society is crucial for the exercise to bear fruits.
